European Go Congress 2010, Finland

I am going to Finland for 2010 European Go Congress!!

Mok Jin-Suk 9P and Diana Koszegi 1P will be going there with me from Korea, and also Kim Sung-Rae 4P, Lee Young-Sin 5P, and Ko Ju-Yeon 2P are also flying there from Hungary.

Due to the Samsung Cup preliminary, which will start on 2nd of August, I and two other players from Korea will stay there only from 23rd to 30th of July. I believe that the other three players will remain until the end of the congress though.

I am so excited to go to EGC, and hope you would join there too! :)

Korean Ambassador's Cup in Prague

The 39th Prague International Go Tournament Korean Ambassador's Cup will be held on 1st-2nd May in Prague.
I will go there as a professional player from Korea, and probably play simultaneous games and do the lecture.

Hi!

It has already been a year since I opened Star Baduk.

Thank you all, who paid a visit and left precious comments.

It was the main power that encouraged me to keep this site updated.

Anyway, there would be a little change on this site.

Could you please give me a piece of advice to make it better place for you?

- There have been lots of advertisements in comment sections. To prevent it, only members of Star Baduk will be allowed to leave comments or messages.

- Members, who introduce themselves by writing in 'Self-Introduce' section, will be promoted to ‘Official Member’. (The ones who already did will be promoted automatically)

- Chatting Room will open 24/7 for Official Members, and there will be an online meeting about once a month.

- I found it ‘illicit’ to use photographs and articles of other Baduk Sites, so it would be difficult to keep posting Baduk News.

The renewal will be done before the New Year’s Day.

Korean-style Insei on KGS

I've got a surprising mail a few days ago from Alexandre Dinerchtein 3P of Russia.
He said he is preparing for a Korean-style Insei program for Western players, and asked me if I would accept to be one of their teachers.
So, I said 'Yes'.
Alex seemed so passionate on this, and one of my closest friends, Younggil 8P, also agreed to be one.
I think it would be a good opportunity if you want to get more serious on the game.

US Go Congress

Hello everyone~!

I am going to the US on 16th of July and participating in the US Go Congress.
Before the congress, I will have small baduk events in both cities Seattle (19th) and Portland (25th).
Even though I will try to keep you updated, it might be difficult as I am not bringing my laptop.

I am looking for some official material on Baduk.
Those documents that can prove Baduk is good for dementia or brain training are preferred.
Any kind of form such as thesises, research reports or archives are welcomed.
Please let me know if you have something even if you don't think it would be appropriate.
This is for my friend, who is trying to get a talent visa with his teaching-baduk ability.

I am afraid I have to say this, but there is a problem on the fundamental program of this site.

When you upload pictures or files, you must use 'Attach' which doesn't work on 'Internet Explorer'.

So I use 'Google Chrome' for doing it. (I didn't examine other web browsers such as 'Fire Fox')

Go, Baduk and Weiqi

About 8 months ago, I attended an English institute to take IELTS.
(International English Language Testing System)

One day my teacher asked me what I do in English.

It was neither interview nor a part of lecture but just casual conversation between her and me.

So I told her ‘I am a Baduk player.’

Then she said ‘Oh, you play baduk? Anyway you should say ‘you are a Go player’, because ‘Go’ is its English name.’

Wow, you know what?

She is Korean.

I agree that the name ‘Go’ took the place after Japan’s long efforts.

However I believe you will understand that I still prefer ‘Baduk’.

Thanks to my dad, who made this homepage, this is MINE.

So I will use ‘baduk’ for this magnificent game.

Yet you may use ‘Go’, ‘baduk’ as well as ‘weiqi’, just pick what you want.

We are baduk players and familiar to all three words, aren’t we?
