I went to
Although I undertook this project mostly because it sounded interesting, it now turned out to be a huge pressure and responsibility. It thrills me at the same time though.
After the meeting, I found the project much bigger than I thought since its ultimate object is not just to introduce the game to the school. (Well, I vaguely expected it to be a one time event.)
It was rather a long-term plan to promote the game in as many schools as possible in East coast and make some kind of Schools Competition there. (Isn’t it cool?)
Certainly it would boost American Go society. For that, however, the reaction of the school and its students is very important.
Oh, it would be a greater challenge than TOEFL Speaking.
I have two questions to you guys.
First, what do you think is the most efficient way to teach Baduk to beginners, especially when they are bright American high school students? (who never ever heard of it)
Second, I’ve heard that the school is located somewhere between NY and
The problem is that they need to equip with a magnetic board set for a lecturer and some of Baduk sets for students. Where should they purchase them?
Would you give me a piece of advice? It would help me a lot.
Thank you!
Um...I am a little worried that some students who like chess will be offended by that..Well. I don't know.
I will try to compare Baduk to chess for sure, but be careful to describe it as 'better' or something.
Thank you for the 'rythm' advice, I think it's a great idea. I've never thought of that.
It won't be easy to teach students in the morning though as it would be an extra curricular program.
Oh, and I don't know if I can use beam project for the lecture.
If it's possible, I will try to use it.
Thanks again~! :)

I'm very happy to read about this new project... my best wishes for you to succeed in this venture.
As for the first question, I will skip it since it's the most controversial one, there are many methods with slight differences and there is not consensus on which one is best. IMO, you must bear in mind:
About the magnetic teaching board, I don't know in the NY-NJ area, probably there are stores nearby. Yellow Mountain Imports used to stock some really nice ones... Although maybe in that University it's easier to use a laptop and a projector.
But for this project I think you can ask for support from the American Go Foundation.
If I find more info I'll let you know.
